As many of you will have no doubt heard on the news, all construction sites in and around Sydney will be closed from 19 July until the end of the month as the NSW Government continues to respond to the current outbreak of Covid-19.
Renovations Affected
The new NSW restrictions apply to residential renovations, alterations and additions in Greater Sydney, the Blue Mountains, Central Coast, Wollongong and Shellharbour.
There is an exception, with limits, that allows work to be carried out that is “necessary for the safety or security of the site”. Once this has been completed and a site is secured, all work must stop.
Concern About Spreading Covid
The NSW Government is concerned about the possibility that tradespeople working on multiple sites could become a vector for transmitting the virus. As such, construction sites might become a place from which the virus could spread further into the community.
Earlier this month a number of tradies in the Sydney region tested positive for Covid-19, and some sites were listed as transmission venues of concern.
Addbuild’s Response
Quickly responding to the newly announced restrictions, Addbuild has already secured all our current construction sites. We remain available should there be any safety or security issues that need to be addressed during the lockdown.
If you are one of our current clients, you will have heard from your building supervisor and what this means for your project.
Rest assured that should you need our help, you can contact your consultant or supervisor. In the unlikely event that you are unable to contact one of them, you can also contact Addbuild’s head office.
Whilst the office itself is closed, we are still monitoring phone calls and email so please feel free to leave a message on 02 8765 1555 or email [email protected] and we’ll get back to you as soon as possible.
Addbuild and Covid Safety
Throughout the past 16 months, Addbuild has taken a number of steps to ensure that we keep our staff, clients and the community safe.
We have registered as a ‘Covid Safe’ business and follow best-practise to ensure that we minimise the risk on each of our building sites.
Return to Building
On 20 July, NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian reassured the community that construction will resume as soon as possible, saying that building sites will reopen as planned on 31 July.
Obviously we are all watching the numbers each day and are hopeful that the current restrictions have the desired effect of reducing new cases.
New Projects
Throughout the pandemic, we heard from an unprecedented number of Sydney families who realised their current home isn’t coping with the extra demands placed on it.
